The Banquet is an evening of medieval-ish food and (optional) ceilidh dancing, all in costume (any setting!) but not in character, so this is a chance to get out any particularly exciting kit you've been waiting for an excuse to wear. The dancing will be called by our former member Jacob Steel and music will be provided by Jump The Vortex. Food will be provided by David Proctor and Rosemary Warner, (now named Crucible Catering). We can and will cater for any dietary requirements, and enjoy doing so.

CLS Banquet and Ceilidh 2016

The Banquet is an evening of medieval-ish food and (optional) ceilidh dancing, all in costume (any setting!) but not in character, so this is a chance to get out any particularly exciting kit you've been waiting for an excuse to wear. The dancing will be called by our former member Jacob Steel and music will be provided by Jump The Vortex. Food will be provided by David Proctor and Rosemary Warner, (now named Crucible Catering). We can and will cater for any dietary requirements (things like vegan and wheat free are second nature to us these days), and enjoy doing so.

The Banquet will take place in Emmanuel United Reformed Church hall, on Trumpington Street, on December 3rd. Precise times will be confirmed later but we aim to kick things off at 5pm with mulled cider and apple juice as people arrive from the pre-banquet bash. We welcome external visitors to the banquet, both larpers from outside Cambridge and also people who are maybe less interested in live roleplaying but are very interested in costumes and ceilidhs.

Join us to roleplay as well!

We will be running an interactive (tavern night) on the Friday evening, with plenty of opportunities for visitors to play monster/NPC roles or a one-off character. The refs will provide information about the pre-banquet bash at a later date, but it will run in our usual Saturday linear slot on Grantchester Meadows, though with an earlier start than usual, since there won't be Saturday lectures we need to avoid. There will be space to change in the church hall afterwards for those who need it.

Costs

The banquet will cost £38. You can pay by bank transfer, paypal, or with money or a cheque at an interactive. Please ask Rosemary for bank details. If at all possible, please book before the end of October so we have a good idea of numbers.

Some Logistics:

Crashspace:

Obviously, there's nowhere to sleep, and we have to be out of the hall at midnight. If you can provide crashspace for visitors, we'd appreciate it if you could indicate this on your form (with details, eg "this would be on my floor" or "I'd rather only have someone I know") so we can try to match people up. Similarly, if you need crashspace, there's a space for that on the form too.

Parking and Directions

There is some in the evenings on Trumpington Street, or you can park on Queens Road and walk through. Alternatively, the Grand Arcade car park is a new, modern multistorey car park, which will cost you a few quid but is very nice (for a car park). Emmanuel URC is a 5-10 minute walk from the bus station and surrounding stops, and if you are coming by train, buses 1,3,7 and 8 will all take you to the city centre as well.

Alcohol

A glass of mead will be provided as part of the banquet. If you would like more alcohol than that, please bring it but as we have had to ask permission to drink in the church hall please do not get totally off your face or they won't let us go back. We will be doing an order from Highland Wineries for the mead in a couple of weeks and if you want to buy extra mead or any of their other products for yourself, we will be arranging this via the society mailing list and facebook event.

Any questions, please contact Rosemary on rjw76@cantab.net

Hope to see as many of you there as possible!
